Meet the Probie and His Chief
Robert and Dunya are the successful food entrepreneurs behind Chicago Food Department Co. and their newest venture in their new home, Orlando Food Department Co. They’re a loving husband-and-wife team with a burning passion for cooking.
Dunya is an architect who lived in Iraq during the wars, when out of necessity she learned to cook Iraqi and other Middle Eastern fare from her mom, grandmother, and aunt. Robert is a retired firefighter/paramedic – a major point of pride that may have rubbed off a little on the company branding. He’s also a trained engineer with a knack for reverse-engineering recipes and a love of cooking that goes back to his pre-teen years, thanks to his mother and grandmother.
These two have many treats in store for your taste buds.
Food and family are tightly intertwined for the pair, and the meals they prepare reflect this. They’re natural, wholesome, satisfying, homemade-style dishes you can feel good about feeding your family. Robert and Dunya particularly enjoy creating dishes that combine American and Middle Eastern cuisines, but they often bring in other interests and influences too.
Each recipe is diligently perfected with time and repeated preparation until it has that special spark to ignite the palate. They make almost everything themselves, down to the ketchup, mustards, and hot sauces. And their respect for food is also evident in their dedication to high-quality natural ingredients and a farm-to-table philosophy.
